This study will show you how users behave on your site when shopping. Users will be given a budget (which you determine) and be told to shop as they usually would. This will help uncover any pain points throughout the shopping process and whether the experience is a pleasant or frustrating one. With this information you will be able to optimize the shopping experience on your site while driving more sales and decreasing cart abandonment.

Test Questions

When using a template, read through the questions and fill in the blanks found in [brackets] with your information. The templates are there as a guide, feel free to edit and modify as you see fit.

  1. Without clicking anything (you can scroll), what is your first impression of this company? What does this store offer? What kind of quality? What stands out to you?
  2. If you were evaluating this company to buy from, What would you do (on or off this website) to validate or eliminate this company as an option to buy from? What would you want to do first? What questions do you have? Explore freely while walking us through your thoughts.
  3. Now imagine that you have a budget of $X to spend on [product]. Tell us what you want to do and then walk us through how would you go about doing that on this site. (ie: What [product name] would you choose and how would you choose it? Why?) Once you have done that add to cart and move on to the next task.
  4. Go ahead and check-out using the VISA card number: 4111 1111 1111 1111 / any CVV and any expiration date. When you receive an error consider this task complete.
  5. What are your overall thoughts about this site? Was there anything that you liked or disliked about the experience? Did the website offer enough information to help you make an informed purchase decision? Why or why not?
